THREE PEAT! Women’s Golf Captures 3rd Straight NJCAA Region 16 Title

The NCMC Women's Golf team traveled to Joplin, MO on April 22nd-24th to compete in the NJCAA Central District Championship/Region 16 Tournament hosted by Crowder College. The 36-hole tournament was held at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club. The Lady Pirates finished in 4th place in the Central District but were able to stay ahead of Crowder, Metropolitan CC and State Fair CC to win the team's third NJCAA Region 16 Title in three years. The Lady Pirates posted a Day 1 score of 385 and a final round tally of 411 to get to their two-day total of 796. "Huge thanks to Sam Major at Crowder and Lance Allen at Twin Hills for hosting a great District Tournament. The course setup was relatively tough for the tournament field offering fast greens and measuring almost 6,100 years. Hurricane winds has been a common theme this Spring and that is exactly what we got in the Final Round. I'm extremely proud of this group for what they have been able to accomplish this year. Between the records broken and the road trips this team was so much fun to work with every day", quoted Head Coach Nate Swann.

Leading the way for NCMC was Kennedy Dickerson who finished T6th in the Central District and earning 1st team All Region honors for the second straight year. Dickerson shot a nice opening round of 88 and a final round of 92 to get to her 36-hole total of 170. Kennedy finished behind Kate Braden from Metropolitan CC and Cierra Tunley from Crowder to finish in 3rd place in the Region 16 individual standings and joins Lexi Hutton as the only two-time 1st team All Region golfer in NCMC Women's golf history. Mollee Olszowka also earned 1st team All Region status after the conclusion of play on Tuesday. Olszowka came around the Twin Hills layout with a two-day tally of 196.

Haley Baskett and Skyler Powers rounded out the Lady Pirate scoring for the event with Baskett posting scores of 92 and 105 and Powers shooting a 108 on Day 1 and a Day 2 tally of 115.

"I'm proud of Skyler and Mollee coming in as Freshman and having immediate success on this team. They played a lot of courses they had never stepped on before and really played some solid golf throughout the year. For the sophomores Haley and Kennedy have been terrific representatives for this College and I can't wait to see them have success at William Woods University in the Fall."
