Women’s Golf Places 9th At The Park Spring Classic

The North Central Missouri College women's golf team traveled to Parkville, MO on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Park University Spring Classic held at The Deuce Golf Club of Kansas City.  Winning the event was William Woods University (651) by 25 strokes over host Park University (676).

"I'd like to give a huge thanks to Coach Linscott and all of the volunteers and maintenance workers at The Deuce that made this a successful event," said first year NCMC Coach Nate Swann.  "It was a tough showing for the girls over these last two days and they all know that it is far from their best. Short and narrow is the design of The Deuce and that gave the girls some fits off and on but yet again we took away a lot of positives from Monday and Tuesday. With the girls being the only junior college in the field, I was still pleased with how the girls performed against some really good competition."

Emily Long led the Pirates with a two-day total of 178 which placed her T21st for the tournament. "Emily had a strong placing but far from her best golf. Ball striking for her was a lot better but she ran into a few too many 3 putts." Taylor Hileman shot a two-day score of 200 which was the Pirates next best score. Lexi Hutton shot a first round 105 and a final round 107 which included a birdie. Laynie Sweiger rounded out the scoring for the Pirates with a 36-hole score of 235.

The NCMC women's golfers will look to find some redemption next week as they travel to Indianola, IA on April 13th for the Simpson Strom Spring Classic. Tee times for the women will begin at 10:00am.
