The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates Golf kicked off their Spring Season on Friday and Saturday at Mozingo Lake Golf Course for the Graceland Spring Invitational. Just like the men, the wind posed as a problem on Friday for the Tournament field but the Lady Pirates bounced back on Saturday and finished two golfers in the Top 10. "I was very proud of how the girls responded after a tough Day One. All the girls improved on Saturday from their Day one scoring which was really nice to see and hopefully that that will give them confidence going into the heavy portion of the Spring.
Taylor Hileman led the Lady Pirate contingent over the weekend shooting a two-day score of 205 for a 6th place finish for the event. Lexi Hutton had a solid Saturday improving her first round score by 16 shots and was right behind Hileman finishing in 8th place for the tournament posting a 116-100 for a total of 216. Laynie Sweiger improved her day one score by 12 shots and finished in 15th place after a 36-hole total of 240. Emily Long shot 99 on Friday for the Lady Pirates but tore a ligament in her and had to WD from the tournament. Coach Swann had these remarks "We wish Emily a speedy recovery and hopefully she is back with us before the Park Spring Tournament. It's tough to miss out on a Top 5 placing for her but Emily is a fighter so she will go through some exercises and hopefully get back to full strength next week."
The Lady Pirates will now turn their attention to the Iowa Wesleyan University Spring Tiger Classic on Tuesday March 28th in Fort Madison, IA.
