Final Fall Event Results For Lady Pirates

Lady Pirates Golf placed 13th of 13 in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational in Owensboro, KY over the weekend.  The two-round, two-day event was contested at The Pearl Club with the Pirates shooting +309 as a team.  This event replaced a previously scheduled tournament in Nebraska due to forecasted snow.

The top Lady Pirates performer was Carson Hall.  Her +53 score was good for 70th place.  Other Pirates scores were 73rd place Jessica Sheil (+65), 74th place Gretchen Tharp (+70), and 75th place Shayla Woodside (+121).

"The event was primarily a NCAA Division II tourney with Great Lakes Region teams.  The host coach was nice enough to let us into the field due to our late cancellation.  The Pearl Club was a great golf course with a challenging but fair layout.  Overall, we struggled as a team for the most part.  Carson and Shayla had decent showings in comparison to their other fall tourneys," commented Coach Cordray.

Woodside competed in her final event as a Lady Pirate as she'll graduate at semester.  "For a beginning golfer, she had a great attitude on the course, was coachable, and always kept moving forward.  She improved the whole way through and hit numerous quality shots throughout a round.  As with any beginner, she struggled with having her bad holes and putting together an entire 18-hole round," detailed Cordray.

The event in Kentucky brings the fall season to a close for the Lady Pirates.  "In wrapping up our fall season, we weren't where I was hoping we'd be at going into winter.  We had some good flashes of what we can do, but overall struggled to put together an 18-hole score.  We will work on some things in the offseason and look to bring them to the table in the spring," concluded Cordray.  The Lady Pirates spring schedule is not fully set yet but look for the team to continue to improve.
