In a battle of ranked NJCAA DII women's basketball programs, Kirkwood CC got the best of the Lady Pirates on Saturday when they defeated NCMC 79-33 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Kirkwood, the nation's 2nd ranked program, improved to 23-2 for the season and held the 20th ranked Lady Pirates to their lowest point total this season. NCMC will look to rebound at home on Saturday when they clash with Lincoln Land College, the NJCAA's 9th ranked team. NCMC will also honor their sophomore athletes in the Ketcham Center on Saturday ahead of the 1:00pm tip off.
NCMC's only double-digit scorer on Saturday was All-American Nora Ford. She totaled 12 points on 4-13 shooting. As a team, NCMC shot just 22% from the field and made just 4-27 from beyond the arc.
Kirkwood showed a deep, balanced attack with 4 players in double figures and solid contributions from their bench. They shot 49% in the game and turned it over just 10 times to NCMC's 23 turnovers.
