Maci Moore Leads 17th Ranked Lady Pirates Over State Fair

NCMC women's basketball secured a 90-75 victory at home on Sunday over State Fair CC to improve to 8-3.  The 17th ranked Lady Pirates now get set for their annual Florida trip where they will take on Palm Beach State College (7-3) and the University of Fort Lauderdale (1-6).

The Lady Pirates trailed 46-40 at the half but adjusted nicely in their comeback win.  The team closed the game by outscoring State Fair 33-19 in the 4th quarter.  Leading the team's scoring was Maci Moore with 27 points including a perfect shooting night from the free throw line (11-11).  She also pulled down a game high 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

Fouls were an issue for both sides in the matchup.  NCMC's returning All-American Nora Ford fouled out with 4 minutes remaining in the game and Moore nearly did as well, ending the game with 4 fouls.  State Fair's fouls were in bulk, leading to 30 free throw attempts for NCMC to only 13 for the visiting Road Runners.  The Lady Pirates capitalized, going 26-30 from the line.

Neither team could do much from behind the arc.  State Fair shot 4-21 from three-point land while NCMC netted just 2-19.

Other leading scorers for NCMC were Ianara Morbidoni (18 pts), Ford (14 pts) and Kennadie Crowe (11 pts).
