On the road against Allen County CC, the Lady Pirates basketball dug a 14-point hole at halftime they couldn't get out of as they took a 68-59 defeat Tuesday night. With the loss, 15th ranked NCMC now holds a season record of 5-3 ahead of a home matchup on Monday with Park University JV. Saturday's road game with Southwestern CC has been cancelled because the Spartans do not have enough players to compete.
The Red Devils defense kept NCMC in check by causing 21 turnovers in the game. Leading the offensive charge for the Lady Pirates was Nora Ford with 22 points. Maci Moore chipped in 13 points but her minutes were limited due to foul trouble.
Pulling down rebounds was another area that Allen County had a decided advantage. They outrebounded NCMC 56-23, which included 30 offensive boards. The second chance points proved to be the difference.
