Wild Finish For Lady Pirates

Wild Finish For Lady Pirates

The Lady Pirates held off Graceland University JV 89-78 on Wednesday to push their season record to 6-5.  Next up, they take on Miami Dade College and ASA College (Miami) on their annual Florida trip.  These games will conclude the first semester slate for the Lady Pirates.

The finish against Graceland was something you had to see to believe.  To end the game, the Lady Pirates were down to three players on the court due to foul trouble but held on for the victory.  "I have never been a part of a game like that!  There were 98 free throws shot!  Our girls really focused at the end with 4 players and then finishing with 3," commented Coach Croy.  "We called a timeout and discussed the most important thing was securing the rebound on the defensive end and then using the clock on offense so we wouldn't give them a chance at multiple possessions.  The girls did a good job of knocking down free throws as well.  I was happy we came out with a win!"

The game was also part of the Toy Toss to benefit local youth.  Fans threw over 100 stuffed animals on the court following the Lady Pirates first made basket.  To see the Toy Toss, check out the video on the NCMC Pirates Facebook page.
