Despite Eaton’s Efforts, Lady Pirates Fall At MCC-Penn Valley

The Lady Pirates took their third straight Region 16 loss Saturday as they came up short on the road against MCC-Penn Valley 87-72.  With one region contest remaining, the Lady Pirates have a 1-4 region record while sporting an 18-8 overall mark.  Next action for NCMC women will be Wednesday when they go on the road to Cottey College to close the region season.

Kendey Eaton paced the Lady Pirates with 24 points.  During the game, Eaton eclipsed 1,000 total points in her NCMC career.  "Kendey Eaton achieved her 1,000th point Saturday. It is such a great accomplishment.  She joins only 3 other Lady Pirates to achieve this milestone," remarked Coach Croy of the feat.

Also playing well for the Pirates were Sarah Lamp (15 points and 15 rebounds) and Whitley Richman (12 points and 17 rebounds).

The Pirates started the game well holding a 5-point lead after one quarter.  By halftime, the score was tied 39-39.  In the second half, things did not go the way of the Lady Pirates.  In the 3rd quarter the team fell behind by 11 points and were outscored in the 4th as well.

Coach Croy had the following comments about the game.  "We played well the first quarter. We were plagued with turnovers after that.  Penn Valley's half court pressure gave us fits.  We had moments of doing good things but then struggled to stop them on defense."
