The Lady Pirates were narrowly defeated on Monday night by the Cottey College Comets 75-73.  The loss drops the Pirates to 17-7 overall and 1-3 in Region 16 play.  The team hits the road Tuesday to try to stop their current 2-game losing streak when they take on Central Methodist University JV.

Despite a solid scoring night and having four Pirates in double figures, the hot shooting Comets were too much down the stretch.  The Pirates were outscored 25-18 in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Lamp led the Pirates with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Also with a double-double was Whitley Richman off the bench with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Maddie Book and Samm Jett each totaled 11 points.

"Cottey shot the ball extremely well. We have struggled from the field the past couple games. Defensively, we have to do a better job on the perimeter. It was a game we definitely can learn from," remarked Coach Croy.
