Lady Pirates Fall In Region 16 Championship Game To St. Louis

The Lady Pirates region championship hopes were dashed by a tough St. Louis Community College squad on Saturday in Jefferson City.  The 79-70 loss in the Region 16 Championship was the 3rd time this season the Archers were just too much.  With the loss, the Lady Pirates finished the year as the Region 16 runner up with a 21-10 final record.

The Lady Pirates struggled to get going early in the contest.  St. Louis carried a 13 point lead to halftime and stretched it to 20 points before the Lady Pirates began to make a comeback.  "It was just a little too late. We came alive late in the 3rd quarter. Then we stepped it up. We cut their lead to 4 with under a minute left but just couldn't hit the shots we needed," remarked Coach Croy of the valiant comeback effort.

McKinley Hurley led the Lady Pirates scoring with 20 points.  Sarah Lamp played a strong game putting in 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.  Kendey Eaton also chipped in 15 points.

"I am extreme proud of their fight and passion for winning. They never gave up," commented Croy of her team's efforts not only in this game but during the season as a whole.
