Lady Pirates Take Care Of Region Foe Cottey College

The Lady Pirates moved to 6-1 in Region 16 play with a 79-57 victory over Cottey College at the Ketcham Community Center on Wednesday night.

"We got off to a slow start. I felt like we missed a lot of shots in the first half that we normally hit," remarked Coach Croy of a first half effort where the team took a slim 36-34 lead to the break.

However, the second half was a whole different story as the Lady Pirates hit their stride. "The girls really stepped up in the 3rd quarter and played with more fire than they did in the first half. In the second half, we were able to get the ball inside and improve ball movement drastically which allowed us to get higher percentage shots."

Sarah Lamp led the Pirates scoring with 21 points.  Kendey Eaton contributed a double-double (19 points and 12 rebounds) plus McKinley Hurley and Jami Nickerson scored in double digits.

The next test for the Lady Pirates (20-6) will be Saturday when they take on North Arkansas College (18-3).  Tipoff for that game is set for 2pm at Ketcham.
