NCMC Softball Goes 1-5 On Florida Spring Break Trip

NCMC softball completed their spring break trip to Florida on Wednesday, earning their lone win in the final game.  They downed Webber International University JV 6-5 to move their record to 9-17.  Next up will be a home Region 16 doubleheader on March 25th against State Fair CC.  To date, the team's region record is 4-4.

Against Webber JV, the Pirate's bats came alive after struggling to score runs in the previous games on the trip.  Leading the charge was sophomore Brookelynn Becker who went 1-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.  Getting two hits was fellow sophomore Cassi Rodgers who also scored a pair of runs and drove in another.  Emma Lisenbee picked up the win in the pitcher's circle, tossing 4 innings of 2-hit ball, allowing just 1 run.

As the team hits the midpoint of their season, Becker leads the squad with a .373 batting average.  She also holds the high water mark in homers (5), runs (19) and RBIs (20).

The team is splitting the pitching load between Rodgers (59.0 IP, 31 K's, 4.75 ERA), Lisenbee (53.2 IP, 40 K's, 5.48 ERA) and Briley Bouma (48.0 IP, 38 K's, 4.67 ERA).  This depth of pitching is something they will look to leverage as the get deeper into the schedule, especially against Region 16 foes.
