NCMC softball won both games of their home opening doubleheader on Sunday when they downed Hawkeye CC 9-8 & 15-7. With the wins, the team's overall record sits at 3-7 with their next action coming Friday. That will be a home doubleheader against Region 16 power Crowder College.
Stars in the 9-8 victory over Hawkeye included Ireland Bloss who went 3-4 with a double and a run scored. Homering in the victory were Cassi Rodgers, Myla Laws, Brookelynn Becker and Addison Huber. Earning the win in the pitcher's circle was Rodgers who surrendered 7 runs over 4 innings. Getting the save was Briley Bouma who twirled the final 3 inning allowing just a single run and striking out 4.
Game two saw more power from the NCMC bats. Rodgers had two more homers as did freshman Emma Lisenbee. Bloss stayed hot at the plate, going 2-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 runs scored. Lisenbee picked up the pitching win by allowing 7 runs (only 2 earned) over 5 innings.
