NCMC Splits Home Doubleheader With Region 16 Foe Crowder College

NCMC softball split a home doubleheader on Saturday with Region 16 foe Crowder College.  The Pirates took the opener 11-7 before dropping game two 9-6.  Overall, NCMC is now 22-19 and holds a region record of 6-14.  Remaining on the schedule are four region doubleheaders and the final three will be played at home.

 

In the NCMC win, the Pirate's offense hammered out 14 hits led by Brookelynn Becker's 3-3 game including a double and 2 runs scored.  Homering for NCMC was Hailey Shepardson, her first of the season.  Hope Helton drove in 3 runs and had a double in her 2-4 effort.  Getting the complete game victory in the circle was Cassi Rodgers.  She gave up 7 runs (4 earned) while scattering 11 Crowder hits.  She struck out 3.

 

Rylie Boyer had a nice offensive game in NCMC's defeat, going 2-3 with 3 runs scored from the leadoff spot.  She also showed her speed in the game, stealing 4 bases.  Briley Bouma took the loss for the Pirates, giving up 5 runs (2 earned) in 5 innings pitched.  NCMC's defense committed 3 errors in the game leading to 6 unearned runs.
