NCMC softball took a pair of losses Saturday at Region 16 foe Crowder College. They lost 4-1 and 10-2 which drops their overall record to 11-6 and 2-4 in region play. Next up is a trip to Florida where they will play 6 games from March 18-20.
In the opener, Cassi Rodgers took the tough luck loss after throwing a complete game and allowing 1 earned run. The other 3 runs scored by Crowder were unearned due to 3 NCMC errors. Offensively, Riley Murray and Gracie McKinney, each with 2 hits, led the Pirates. McKinney scored the lone NCMC run with Maeve Lavoy picking up the RBI.
Game two saw NCMC grab an early 2-0 lead before Crowder's offense came to life. Briley Bouma took the loss after surrendering 5 runs in 2.1 innings pitched. Amelia Pingleton came in to relieve her and also surrendered 5 runs in 1 inning of work. Scoring NCMC's runs were McKinney and Hope Helton. Collecting a pair of hits was Hailey Shepardson.
