Pirate's Softball Suffers First Loss Of The Season In Home Split

NCMC softball split a home doubleheader with Southwestern CC on Wednesday which moved their season record to 8-1 overall.  They dropped the opener 9-4 before rebounding with a 9-1 victory in game two.  Their next action will be on the road when they open up Region 16 play at St. Charles CC on Sunday. 

 

In game one, Cassi Rodgers took the loss as she allowed 8 runs over 4 innings pitched.  Only 4 runs were earned in her outing and she struck out 3 Spartans.  At the plate, NCMC posted 4 runs on 6 hits, led by Makenzie Dunkin's 2-3 effort including a home run and 3 RBIs.  NCMC was also lethal on the base paths,  collecting 7 stolen bases.

 

In the Pirate's game two win, the bats came to life up and down the NCMC order.  8 NCMC batters scored a run and were led by leadoff Rylie Boyer who scored twice.  Hope Helton had a big game driving in 3 runs and Rodgers went 2-2 with a pair of RBIs.  Maeve Lavoy got the complete game win in the pitcher's circle, tossing 5 innings without allowing an earned run.  She struck out 6 while only walking 2 Southwestern batters.
