Pirate's Softball Stays Perfect With Home 4-Game Sweep

NCMC softball maintained their undefeated record over the weekend by handing Hawkeye Community College a 6-4 loss plus three wins over Milwaukee Area Technical College by the final scores of 14-6, 12-10 and 9-1.  The Pirates are now 7-0-1 with their next action being a home doubleheader on Wednesday against Southwestern CC.

 

Against Hawkeye, Cassi Rodgers picked up the win after twirling 5 innings of 1-hit ball.  She surrendered just 3 unearned runs.  Maeve Lavoy picked up the save, her first of the year.  At the plate, leadoff Rylie Boyer had a nice 2-3 game including a triple with a pair of runs scored.  Catcher Hope Helton posted 2 RBIs plus a run scored.

 

In Friday's matchup with Milwaukee Area Tech, Maeve Lavoy stood out in the Pirate's powerful offense.  She went 2-4 with a homer and a triple.  She also scored 2 runs and had a team high 3 RBIs.  Addison Huber also notched a multi-hit game, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs plus a run scored on her home run.  Brookelynn Becker also blasted a homer in the win.  Lavoy picked up the win in the pitcher's circle by allowing 6 runs over 5 innings pitched.  4 of those runs were unearned.

 

In the closest matchup with MATC, NCMC pounded out a robust 18 hits to down the Stormers 12-10.  Boyer, Becker, Huber and Mackenzie Dunkin each had 3-hit performances in the offensive outbreak.  Huber also homered.  Briley Bouma picked up the win despite allowing 6 earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched.  She allowed a pair of home runs in her outing.

 

The final game of the weekend saw NCMC run-rule the visiting Stormers.  The offense had contributions up and down the lineup with Huber and Taijha Davis each adding to their season home run totals.  Cassi Rodgers earned the complete game victory allowing just 1 unearned run over 5 innings.  She is now 2-0 for the season in the pitcher's circle.
