Pirate's softball went undefeated in their opening weekend of games down in Harrison, AR. The team's record is 3-0-1 ahead of their home openers on Friday and Saturday against Hawkeye CC and Milwaukee Area Tech.
Things got off to a hot start for NCMC on Saturday when they downed Moberly Area CC 15-4. Briley Bouma earned the win in the pitcher's circle, twirling 3.2 inning while only allowing 4 unearned runs. At the plate, a potent NCMC offense pounded out 15 runs on 13 hits including doubles from Rylie Boyer and Addison Huber. Brookelynn Becker and Chloe Bell each scored a team high 3 runs while Huber had 3 RBIs.
The second game of the day for NCMC was against host North Arkansas College. This game ended in a 5-5 tie after 4 innings due to darkness.
On Sunday, NCMC swept the host Pioneers 15-8 and 2-1. Picking up wins were Amelia Pingleton in relief for game one and Bouma in relief for game two. In the opener, Rylee Murray had a standout performance going 2-4 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs. Also having a solid offensive performance was Becker who went 4-5 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.
The finale was a defensive battle with NCMC cleaning up some of their field woes from earlier in the weekend. NCMC pounded out 10 hits to North Ark's 5 but scoring was sparse. Delivering RBIs were Huber and Makenzie Dunkin and scoring runs were leadoff Maeve Lavoy and shortstop Cassi Rodgers.
