Pirate's Softball Takes 3rd Place At Region Tournament

NCMC Pirate's softball closed out their season with a 3rd place showing at the NJCAA DI Region 16 tournament over the weekend.  The Pirates won their first two games, 6-2 over State Fair CC and 8-7 over top seeded Three Rivers CC, before taking a pair of shutout losses to end the year.  Those final scores were 8-0 against eventual champion Crowder College and 6-0 versus runner up Jefferson College.  For the season, NCMC posted a mark of 27-31.

 

The team finished the year with a .316 batting average.  Leading the way was freshman Maeve Lavoy at .369.  Scoring the most runs for NCMC was Chloe Bell with 50 and tops in RBIs was Lavoy with 36.  Hailey Shepardson totaled the most home runs for NCMC with 5.  Adding 4 homers a piece were Caragan Baker and Lavoy.

 

The duo of Lavoy and Lauren Krohn did the majority of the pitching for NCMC, both totaling 163 innings pitched.  Krohn posted the best ERA at 5.75 plus led the team with 183 strikeouts.
