Pirates Softball Gets Back To .500 With Strong Nebraska Trip

Pirate's softball posted a 3-1 record over the weekend when they made a road trip through Nebraska to face Southeast CC and Central CC-Columbus.  The team's season record is now 16-16 with their next action being a Region 16 road showdown with Metropolitan CC.  NCMC split a home doubleheader with the Wolves in early March.

NCMC used a strong offensive performance on Saturday to sweep a doubleheader with Southeast CC 12-9 and 9-5.  Maeve Lavoy pitched 13 of the 14 innings played to secure both wins.  She allowed just 4 earned runs and struck out 8.  Ariana Reynolds and Rylee Murray each homered for NCMC and Lavoy had a round tripper in each game.

In Sunday's opening 9-8 win over Central CC-Columbus, the pitching combo of Lavoy and Lauren Krohn were just good enough to clip the Raiders.  Offensively, Kaylence Cook had a standout game going 3-4 with 3 RBI's.

NCMC's offense couldn't put together quite enough runs to complete the sweep of the road trip.  The Raiders took the finale 6-3.  Lavoy got the complete game loss in the pitcher's circle while allowing 5 earned runs on 6 hits.  Maggie McLain and Lavoy each totaled a pair of hits.
