Softball Scratches Out A Win In Tough Road Trip

Pirate softball got one win in six games against nationally ranked Region XVI opponents over the weekend.  The road trip started with NCMC taking a pair of losses to 16th ranked Crowder College 10-5 and 5-0 in Neosho, MO on Thursday.  The trip continued to Poplar Bluff, MO against 15th ranked Three Rivers CC on Saturday and Sunday.  That series opened with losses of 8-0, 8-0 and 11-0 before the Pirates scratched out a 7-6 victory in the final game.

 

NCMC's bats came alive in their lone win, knocking 13 hits including clutch home runs from Zoey Chrisman and Sadie Smith.  Smith also notched the victory in the pitcher's circle, scattering 10 hits in the complete game victory.

 

Overall, the Pirates are now 7-15 with a region record of 3-9 ahead of a home matchup with St. Charles CC on Wednesday.  First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 2pm at Griffin Field.
