Lady Pirates softball won their NJCAA Region XVI opening round series over State Fair CC 2-1 this past weekend. Saturday, the teams split with NCMC taking the opener 6-0 but falling in game two 6-4. That loss forced the series into a winner take all matchup Sunday that saw the Lady Pirates prevail 7-0.
Making the difference for NCMC was the outstanding pitching of Casey Stout. She picked up both wins, striking out 13 over 14 innings pitched allowing just 3 total hits. The wins pushed her season record to 24-2.
Overall, NCMC's record sits at 40-11 ahead of the four team Region XVI championship tournament. That event, which takes place May 7-9, is double elimination with the 3rd seeded Lady Pirates matched up against 2nd seeded Three Rivers CC in the opening round. First pitch for that matchup will be at 1:00pm Friday. All games of the tournament will be at host Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO.
