Softball Drops Pair In Matchup Of Ranked Foes

17th ranked Lady Pirates Softball took a pair of home defeats on Saturday in Region 16 play against 15th ranked Crowder College.  The final scores were 9-0 and 2-1, moving the team's region record to 10-8.  Overall, NCMC holds a nice 36-10 mark with 6 region contests to play before their postseason tournament.

Scoring the lone Lady Pirates run on Saturday was Lacie Lewis when Abby Dobbins drove her home in the 3rd inning of the second game.  The NCMC attack could muster just 6 hits in the doubleheader against a stout Crowder pitching staff.

Taking the losses in the circle for NCMC were Sammi Bradshaw in the opener and Casey Stout in game two.  The pair allowed just 3 earned runs, with the remainder coming by errors.  Stout struck out 17 in her losing effort.

Next up is a home doubleheader Monday versus St. Charles CC.  First pitch at Griffin Field is set for 1pm.  Wednesday NCMC will host Jefferson College with Sophomore Day ceremonies held between doubleheader games.
