Lady Pirates Softball took a couple close home losses Friday against Region 16 foe Jefferson College. Final scores were 4-2 and 2-1. With the losses, the team now has an overall record of 25-10 and 5-9 in Region 16 play.
The Lady Pirates jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning thanks to Georgia Gibler's 2-run homer in the opener. Unfortunately, they wouldn't score again. In the game, the Lady Pirates were held to just 4 hits. Tossing the complete game loss was Kaitlyn Marsh.
Game two again saw the Lady Pirates grab the lead again with a homerun, this time a solo shot in the 5th inning by Mackenzie Robnett. It would be the Pirates only run as they dropped second game in extra innings by a score of 2-1. Alex Miller was the tough luck losing pitcher twirling all 8 innings and striking out 8.
The next action for the Lady Pirates will be a road doubleheader against Crowder College on Monday. First pitch is set for 2pm.
