Cold Weather Doesn't Stop Lady Pirates

The weather wasn't ideal on Sunday for softball, but that didn't stop the Lady Pirates from posting a couple nice home wins against North Dakota State College of Science.  Game 1 went to NCMC by a score of 7-0.  Game 2 was much of the same with the final being 18-0 in favor of NCMC.  With the wins, the Lady Pirates are now 9-3 on the year.

"In a cold day at the field we swept NDSCS.  Pitching and defense were very good with us not giving up a run.  Offensively in game one, we could not string multiple hits together but were able to push seven runs across.  In game two, our bats were better as we put the ball in play hard and were able to make some things happen.  Overall for the weather situation, we played pretty well," commented Coach Richman.

Standouts offensively were Mackenzie Robnett, who went 6 for 8 on the day, and Macie Bohannon, who went 5 for 8.  Earning the win in the opener was Kaitlyn Marsh who now holds a record of 5-1.  Alex Miller got the win in game two throwing 3 innings and striking out 3.

The next action for the softball team will be on Monday when they host Central Methodist University JV.  The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2:00pm at Griffin Field.
