Lady Pirates Softball opened Region 16 play on Thursday with a pair of tough road losses.  In the opener, the Pirates got out to an early 3-0 lead after one inning but were not able to hold on.  Game two saw the Pirates fall behind early with their comeback bid coming up short in the 11-7 final.

"We played sluggish throughout the day.  Defensively, we were actually sound with no errors.  They hit holes and we couldn't get key hits when we needed them.  In game one, we left a lot of players on base.  We must get pressure hits and we didn't today," commented Coach Steve Richman.
