Lady Pirates Go 4-4 In Tough Region Stretch

NCMC softball went 4-4 in a recent string of Region 16 games played from Friday-Monday.  The backlog of games due to weather certainly provided a challenge for Coach Richman's squad.  The team's overall record is now 21-13 and their region mark sits at 11-7.

Friday, the Lady Pirates swept a home doubleheader against St. Charles Community College 7-1 and 10-0.  Georgia Gibler and Jaclyn Weydert each knocked a homerun and McKinley Hurley stole 5 bases in the two games.

Saturday's games against Crowder College saw NCMC fall in both contests, 8-5 and 7-1.  Rachael Blake paced the offense going 4-7 with 1 run and 2 RBI's in the games.

Sunday, it was a road split with St. Charles CC.  Game one went to the Cougars by a score of 5-3 but the Lady Pirates rallied to take the second by a 6-3 score.  Hurley was again running wild on the bases stealing another 4 bags.  Allison Hilsabeck earned the win pitching 7 innings of 5 hit ball.

Monday featured a neutral site split as the Lady Pirates met Three Rivers CC in Fulton, MO for two games.  It was a 7-3 win in the opener but a 13-10 extra inning loss to close the eight game region stretch.

There is no rest for the Lady Pirates as the play a rescheduled doubleheader Tuesday at home against Ellsworth Community College followed by doubleheaders Wednesday and Thursday as well.
