Lady Pirates Earn Road Split With Jefferson College

The Lady Pirates went on the road Saturday and earned a split with Jefferson College, dropping the opener 10-8 but winning the second game 9-5.  The Lady Pirates are now 16-8 on the year and 6-2 in Region 16 action.

"I was happy overall, as JeffCo is a quality opponent and taking one on the road is always tough.  Offensively we looked pretty good, plating 8 runs the first game and 9 in the second game," commented Coach Richman.  Anchoring the offense was Amber Austin, who knocked out 3 home runs and drove in 5 for the doubleheader.  "It was a big day for Amber Austin, as she went yard 3 times plus for Geogia Gibler as well who homered once in the second game.  Defensively we played solid; Jeffco just hit the ball in holes in the first game," noted Richman.

Earning the win in game two was Jessica Stupar, whose record now sits at 6-3.  She scattered 6 hits over 7 innings, allowing only 1 earned run.

Next up for the Lady Pirates will be their long awaited home opener on Tuesday against MCC-Maple Woods.
