Hot Bats Lead Lady Pirates To A Pair Of 9-8 Wins

The NCMC Lady Pirates softball team improved to 9-3 on the year with a pair of 9-8 road wins over MCC-Maple Woods on Wednesday.  The wins move the team to 5-1 in region play so far this year.  "We played solid ball today.  It wasn't the easiest weather conditions, but our girls really competed well," commented Coach Richman of the team's efforts in the frigid conditions.

In game one, Jessica Stupar collected the win despite not having her best control.  She walked 12 in 5 innings of work.  Allison Hilsabeck came in for two scoreless innings to preserve the win for the Lady Pirates, earning the save.

The bats came through for the Lady Pirates.  Jaclyn Weydert went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs including a homerun.  Aubrey Nelson also knocked a homerun in the winning effort while collecting 3 RBIs.

In game two, the bats were again on display with Bethany Jacobsen, Georgia Gibler, and Rachael Balke all going deep.  McKinley Hurley scored 3 runs and Jacobsen drove in 3.  Hilsabeck pitched the complete game to earn the victory, moving her record to 6-2 on the year.

"We hit well today.  Five homeruns never hurts in a double header," remarked Richman.  The Lady Pirates now head to Myrtle Beach, SC where they will play 8 games before returning for Region 16 action against Crowder College.
