Lady Pirates Split With 3 Rivers To Open Region 16 Play

Game 1:

The Lady Pirates dropped the first game of their doubleheader on Sunday to Three Rivers Community College 8-2.  "We didn't come out playing our best ball.  Offensively we were a bit sluggish and Allison didn't have her normal movement on her pitches," remarked Coach Richman about the loss.

Allison Hilsabeck took the loss allowing 8 runs, 4 earned, over 6 innings of work.  She allowed 12 total hits.  Offensively, only two Lady Pirates provided multiple hits.  Jaclyn Weydert and Georgia Gibler each went 2-3 with 1 RBI.

Game 2:

In a tight second game, the Lady Pirates were able to pull out a 5-4 win to split on the day.  The win took the team's overall record to 5-3 on the year.

"We really battled in this game and were able to prevail.  Our team has fight and I like that," commented Coach Richman.

Offensively, the Lady Pirates were able to put much more together in this game.  McKinley Hurley, fresh off basketball season, led off for the Lady Pirates going 3-3 and scored 3 runs.  Gibler and Rachael Balke both contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI's to the winning effort.

Jessica Stupar scattered 10 hits over 7 innings to get the win.  She struck out 3 and walked 3 in the contest.
