Lady Pirates Softball Blank Missouri Valley JV In Sunday Double Header

Lady Pirate's softball took it to Missouri Valley College JV on Sunday with 5-0 and 11-0 wins.  The team is now 3-1 on the season.

"I was very pleased with our performance.  Our pitching was sharp, as well as our defense.  We had one error on the day and it was the second to last batter of the first game.  Offensively, I was pleased overall.  I would like to see us string more hits together, but it is very early and we have really put our practice focus on being sound defensively.   Good early season wins for us," remarked Coach Richman of the team's road effort.

Allison Hilsabeck threw a complete game 1 hitter in the opener.  Offensively she was backed up by strong performances up and down the lineup.  Bethany Jacobsen and Jaclyn Weydert went 2-4 and Hilsabeck helped her own cause going 2-3.

In the second contest Jessica Stupar got the complete game shutout allowing 4 hits while striking out 7.  Weydert again had a nice game at the plate going 3-5 with 3 runs and 3 RBI's.  Amber Austin and Breann O'Riley each added a couple hits as well.

Next up for the Lady Pirates will be road games at Ottawa University JV on Thursday.
