The NCMC Men's Golf team traveled to Pella, IA on Tuesday to compete in the Central College Dutch Shootout held at Bos Landen Golf Course. The Pirates finished in 2nd place out of 9 schools with a team score of 323 and earned their first Top 3 of the Spring after fending off team scores coming in from Clarke University, Des Moines Area Community College and Simpson College. Head Coach Nate Swann Quoted after the event, "Really proud of the guys 1-5 for having a great event against another solid tournament field. The preparation going into the event is what stuck out to me. All five battled through some adversity throughout the day but seeing the excitement from the guys on the bus ride home was fun".
All five Pirates also finished inside the Top 20 individual leaderboard with Guillermo Gomez and Alvaro Alegria leading the charge with twin scores of 80 and a T-9th finish in the 57-player field. Jorge Gomez was right behind them posting a score of 81 putting Gomez in T-15th at the conclusion of the event. Grant Leamer and Lucas Schussler also stayed consistent for NCMC with Leamer posting a tally of 82 to finish T-17th and Schussler coming around the Bos Landen layout with an 83 and earning a T-20th placing.
The NCMC Men's Golf Team will be in action next on April 16th when they compete in the Simpson Storm Spring Classic held at Indianola Country. Tee Times for the Pirates will begin at 11:20 A.M.
