Men Post Best 36-Hole Team Score Since 2018, Finish 6th At Viking Fall Invitational

The NCMC Men's and Women's Golf team traveled to Ankeny, IA this week to compete in the Grandview Viking Fall Invitational held at Otter Creek Golf Course. The NCMC Men's squad achieved a mark nobody has been able to accomplish since 2018. The Pirates posted the best 36 hole team score since then with a tally of 609. On Monday the Men fired a team score of 303 which was also their best 18 hole score of the Fall. They followed that up with a final round team tally of 306. That mark helped the Men finish in 6th place out of 12 teams beating some solid NAIA schools which will help their NJCAA ranking next month. The Pirates were led by Jorge Gomez who notched his first Top 10 of the Fall with a 36 hole score of 146. Alvaro Alegria also played solid for the Pirates posting a first round score of 73 and a final round score of 76 finishing in T19th in the 76 player field. Guillermo Gomez finished off a very strong semester with a 36 hole mark of 153. Lucas Schussler stayed consistent for the tournament posting rounds of 82 and 79 respectively. Jackson Compton rounded out the Pirate scoring in Ankeny with a 183.

Connor Smith and Tyler Stephens competed as individuals for the event with Smith posting a two day tally of 178 and Stephens with a 36 hole score of 196.

The NCMC Womens Golf team was also in action on Monday and Tuesday with Courtney Crose and Casey Phillips competing as individuals for the tournament. Crose and Phillips had good showings along with a solid semester as they continued to improve on some longer golf courses. Crose fired a nice score of 93 on Monday and followed it up with a mark of 96 on Tuesday. Phillips finished the event with a 36 hole mark of 205.
