NCMC Men’s Golf With Strong Start To Fall Campaign

The North Central Missouri College Men's Golf team kicked off its Fall Tournament schedule when they traveled to Creston, IA on Friday to compete in the Southwestern Community College's "War at the Moor" held at Crestmoor Golf Club. The Pirates fired a team score of 305 to finish in 9th place out of the 12 schools who were at the event. Guillermo Gomez had the low score for NCMC and notched his first Top 10 and his first under par round as a Pirate with a (-1) 71. Gomez finished his last three holes 4 under par to secure T8th in the 63 player field. "Really good start to the Fall for the guys on a golf course they have never saw before. We got off to a shaky start but everybody settled in nicely towards the middle of the round. The guys gave up a few shots with a couple misfires from 100 yards and in but overall was pleased how a new group of all Freshman carried themselves on the course throughout the day. Congrats to Guillermo who started the day +4 through his first five holes to comeback and finish the day at under par. He showed some resilience after a tough start and made two eagles to post a solid score" Quoted Head Coach Nate Swann.

Behind Guillermo, the Pirates got a 76 from Jorge Gomez. Lucas Schussler played some solid golf finishing with a tally of 77. Alvaro Alegria came around the Crestmoor Golf layout with an 81. Jackson Compton rounded out the team scoring for the Pirates with an 87. Connor Smith and Tyler Stephens who were competing as individuals for the event finished with an 86 and 88.

The NCMC Men's Golf team will be in action next on September 16th-17th when the Top 5 will compete in the William Woods Fall Invitational held at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, MO.
