NCMC Trio Have Solid Showing at The Deuce

The North Central Missouri College men's golf team traveled to The Deuce Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Park University Spring Classic. Finishing at the top of the team standings was Kirkwood CC with a two-day score of 586, 6 strokes ahead of William Woods University.

"This is the best field we could have asked for this spring with Kirkwood, William Woods, Park University, and Missouri Valley College. I think some nerves kind of came into play with playing a new course of this caliber but overall I was happy with the results but the same theme is starting to occur where it wasn't our best golf," detailed Coach Swann.

Kyle Steel led the Pirates once again with a first round 80 and followed it up with a final round 81 on Tuesday. Cam Bates came back from a rough first round and fired a 78 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 163. Austin Lasher had a solid first round score of 80 but fell back on the leaderboard with a second day score of 92. "The guys hit some really good shots over these last two days but the mistakes they are making on the course are self-inflicted and a lack of preparation. I can guarantee that this will put some fire under the guys and they will be back stronger next week in Indianola."

The NCMC men will be in action next on April 13th in Indianola, IA to compete in the Simpson Storm Spring Classic. Tee times for the men will begin at 9:30am.
