Pirates Fall Season Closes Out at Mineral Area

The NCMC Men's golf team closed out their Fall season schedule on Monday and Tuesday competing in the Mineral Area Fall Class at Crown Pointe Golf Course in Farmington, MO. The Pirates posted a 54-hole score of 985 and finishing in 6th place for the event. Rend Lake College won the team portion of the event with a score of 908. "Having John A. Logan and Rend Lake in the field this week we knew that it was going to be a tall order to come out with a win. With that being said the guys kept their head down and stayed consistent for the most part. They know they have all of the shots in the bag they are still figuring out how to apply it to the golf course with the pressure on."

"Overall I was pleased with how the guys performed these past couple days. Everybody has come a long way since August 23rd but we also have a long way to go before we can contend with the top half of our Region when Spring rolls around."

The Pirates grinded through 36 holes on Monday posting 18 hole scores of 330-329. Cam Bates and Kyle Steel led the scoring for the team on Monday with scores of 81-80 and 80-84. "Cam did a really good on Monday of not panicking after a tough start to the day. He was +10 through 8 holes to start the tournament and finished at +9 for the first round. That just shows exactly what Cam can bring to the table if he can put it all together for 18 holes. Kyle and Cam both were solid in all areas but I am 1000% sure that we have not saw the best of them yet."

Other Pirate scores on Monday consisted of Austin Lasher who shot 84-82 and threw in a pair of birdies on Hole 6 & 11. Brayden Schweizer (85-90) and Mason Moncrief (92-83) both shot 36 hole scores of 175 to close out Monday's scoring.

On Tuesday the Pirates improved their scoring with a team tally of 326. Austin Lasher and Cam Bates led the squad with scores of 79. Kyle Steel shot 80 and Brayden Schweizer fighting off a wrist injury shot 88. "Austin had a tough last two holes on Tuesday but he was able to exchange his bogeys with four birdies which was fun to watch. He hit just about as many fairways on Tuesday than anybody in the field and that is what he can do with his game when he is swinging the driver well." Mason Moncrief also shot 94 for NCMC on Tuesday.

"Obviously, we have a lot of work to do before we can get to where we want to be at as a team. Everybody will work hard in the offseason to tidy up some things in their golf game and we will be ready to go in the Spring."
