Fall Season Closes For Pirates Golf

Pirates Golf placed 10th of 15 in the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational hosted by Park University.  The two-day event was contested at The Deuce at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.  NCMC's team scores were 329 in the opening round and 361 on day two.  This brings the fall slate of tournaments to a close for the Pirates.

The fall did not finish the way the team would have preferred.  "The last two tournaments were really tough to watch.  The worst part about this one is that it will be March before we have a chance to prove we are better than what we showed.  The guys definitely have a reason to get better this offseason.  We are going to push hard in the weight room and really focus on putting the golf ball.  The guys that want to get better will give 100% every day; the ones that are going through the motions will be scratching their heads in the spring," commented a disappointed Coach Sager.

Individually, here is how the Pirates stacked up in the 76-man field.

T30 Fredrik Hersley (+26)

T39 Van Barr (+31)

T50 Pirmin Kamm (+34)

T57 Job van Nieuwkerk (+37)

T60 Martin Stegberg (+40)

"We can honestly hit every shot in the book on the driving range, but when it comes time to compete we forget what we are capable of doing in this game.  We have to figure out how not to beat ourselves before we will ever beat a golf course.  This is a lack of process and preparation, a mistake that won't be made twice in the spring," concluded Sager as the team prepares for offseason workout to ready themselves for their spring season.
