Pirates Golf Earns National Academic Award

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently released the Academic Team of the Year awards.  This award is given to the college with the highest cumulative team grade point average in a given sport.  North Central Missouri College won this national award for men's golf by posting a 3.71 team GPA.

"It's great to see the team's efforts rewarded with such an outstanding award.  For the players to be able to say that they were part of a team that had the best GPA in their sport, in the nation, is amazing.  The guys did a great job of holding each other accountable in their coursework," commented Head Coach Craig Sager.  Eight out of nine team members individually earned Academic All-American distinction as well.

Sager believes the recognition not only reflects highly on his players' character but also the campus community as a whole.  "Combine the efforts of each team member with a faculty that understands the demands of being a student-athlete and we've provided a great formula for success.  It really is a team effort and I hope everyone enjoys the achievement.  The Library and Tutoring Center staff, as well as the Faculty and Advisors, everyone plays a part in what the guys were able to achieve."
