Jayson Orr Signs National Letter of Intent With Pirates Golf

Jayson Orr has signed a national letter of intent to continue his golf career with North Central Missouri College.  Orr, a 2019 graduating senior from Van-Far High School, placed 21st in the Class 1 State Championship Tournament as a junior.

"Jayson is a great kid that will add a ton of character to our program.  There are some things that he will need to tighten up to compete at this level, but he has all the raw tools you could ask for in a player.  He plays a very loose style and can really lean on his putter when he gets in a bind.  All of the things that need to be handled from a housekeeping standpoint are already there: leaving your bag on the correct side of the green, playing ready golf, course etiquette, manners, and being a good teammate.  Too often we have to spend time teaching these things; with Jayson, he'll be able to get here and immediately work on his game," commented NCMC Head Coach Craig Sager.

Jayson will be a relatively local player that Coach Sager will look to blend with his international recruits.  "Being from Missouri and growing up on a small nine-hole course myself, I know how big this opportunity is for him.  He has things to prove which he might not know it yet, but he is really just now getting started.  I'm not going to lie, when I roll into a small town and watch golf being played on a nine-hole course, I kind of get flashbacks.  There will no doubt be a transition period but I think he will settle in quickly and shorten the learning curve," added Sager.
