Pirate's Golf will hit the road for their final fall event where they will take on some of the top NJCAA Division II competition in the nation. The event, hosted by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, will be played at Windance Country Club in Gulfport, MS. The host team won the 2018 NJCAA Division II national championship plus currently holds the top team ranking.
"It's great that Coach Snell has invited us to come down and compete. I think it will be a great way to finish off our fall season and head into winter workouts. The field is going to consist of 7 of the top 14 teams and 18 of the top 30 players in the nation, so it'll be fun to watch top level golf being played. I'm expecting our guys to play well, gain some tournament experience, and make a few birdies. Knock on wood, the weather is forecasted to be amazing," commented Coach Sager.
The Pirates, who rank 14th in the nation in team scoring, hope to show that they are ready to compete on the national stage. Individually, Lewis Hopkinson ranks 30th in the nation in scoring. Other Pirates in the top 130 are Scott Swayne (82nd), Cody Glenn (102nd), and Jasper van der Zon (128th).
