Scott Swayne Is The Latest Pirate’s Golf Recruit

Men's Golf is pleased to add a second talent from Angus County, Scotland.  Scott Swayne, a 3 handicap playing out of Downfield Golf Club, has committed to North Central Missouri College beginning this fall.  He will be a key part to a very competitive 2017-18 roster that includes Jamie Connelly, a former Angus County teammate of Swayne.

In Scott's relatively short golfing career, he has compiled quite an impressive junior resume.  In 2015, he earned first place honours in both the Downfield Junior Stroke Play and the Alfred Dunhill School's Scratch event, shooting a 76 on the Kittocks Course at St. Andrews.  Last season, in addition to his individual successes, he was a member of the Downfield Club team that won the Angus County Boys Championship.  He also helped his team end a 20 year drought when Angus County successfully won the Gary Harvey Trophy.

"I was thrilled to hear that Scott chose NCMC as a place to continue his education and compete.  The first thing that stood out to me in reviewing his credentials was his contribution to team success.  He can obviously hold his own on the course, but he's also a great teammate and that requires a unique balance," detailed Coach Sager.

Outside of golf, he is very active in his school, representing them in football (soccer), table tennis, and badminton.  He also volunteers in the PE department, acting as classroom assistant in two classes of younger pupils and helps run a table-tennis club during his breaks.  In addition to athletics, Scott uses his position to speak to younger students about the negative effects of drugs, alcohol, and various types of abuse.

"We know that we're bringing a great kid to campus.  He's the type of player that adds instant stability to our roster, a very consistent player.  He's going to continue his tournament play over the summer and show up in August with his game in shape.  I expect Scott to arrive on day one and immediately compete for a top five position on our roster," commented Sager.
