Tyler King of North Central Missouri Selected as 2024-25 NJCAA DII Men’s Basketball Player of the Year
Charlotte, N.C. – North Central Missouri's Tyler King was named the 2024-25 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Year. King is a two-time NJCAA First Team All-America selection and two-time NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Year. 
 

"Since the day he stepped foot on our campus, Tyler King has been the epitome of what every coach wants in a student-athlete," North Central Missouri Head Coach, Jeremy Esry, said. "Tyler never shied away from the hard work or extra hours that allow him to be great. He stayed driven and committed to his goals, while also being a huge positive asset on campus and in our community.  We are very proud of Tyler and this well-earned award, but we are even more proud of the high-character young man and soon to be college graduate that he has become." 

 

King is the all-time leading scorer at North Central Missouri with 1,479 points across two seasons. He scored in double figures in 67 of the 69 games he played for the Pirates, including all 34 contests this season. King helped his team to 31 wins as a sophomore and a 58-11 overall record during his time in Trenton, Missouri.  

 

King scored 74 points in three games at the 2024-25 NJCAA DII Men's Basketball Championship in Danville, IL. He shot 49% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc, including five treys in his 34-point showing in the Pirates' second round matchup. King totaled 22 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals, and four blocks as well.  

 

After leading North Central Missouri to the Region 16 Championship, King was named the Region 16 Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. The Pirates then went on to win the Central Plains District Championship for an automatic bid to the national tournament. North Central Missouri made back-to-back Quarterfinal appearances during King's time with the Pirates.
