Pirates Fall Short In Bid For Men's Basketball National Title

NCMC Pirate's basketball concluded their season with a 1-2 record at the NJCAA DII Men's Basketball National Tournament.  NCMC finished with a final record of 31-3 and were the NJCAA DII Region 16 regular season and postseason tournament champions, the Central Plains District champion and were seeded 2nd in the national tournament.  They also held the #1 national ranking in 7 of 14 weekly polls.

 

Second Round:  NCMC 99, Orange County CC 81

North Central Missouri College put on a strong performance in this game, securing a 99-81 victory over Orange County Community College. They showcased efficient shooting, hitting 55.4% from the field, with standout performances from Tyler King, who led with 34 points and nine rebounds, and Camden Bennett, who contributed 22 points. The team also dominated the boards with 45 rebounds compared to Orange County's 31, while their solid ball movement resulted in 14 assists. Their offensive efficiency and rebounding advantage were key factors in their decisive win.

 

Quarterfinals:  Kalamazoo Valley CC 100, NCMC 91

North Central Missouri College put up a strong fight but fell short against Kalamazoo Valley Community College, losing 100-91. Despite an impressive performance from Jon Carroll, who recorded a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, and a solid 23-point effort from Giovanni Mack, the team couldn't overcome Kalamazoo Valley's efficient shooting and balanced scoring. Camden Bennett also contributed with 20 points, but defensive struggles and turnovers proved costly in the high-scoring matchup.

 

Consolation Bracket:  Davidson-Davie CC 74, NCMC 72

North Central Missouri College put up a strong fight but fell just short against Davidson-Davie Community College, losing 74-72. Despite an impressive performance from Jon Carroll and Tyler King, who both scored 25 points, the team struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 6.3% from three-point range. Carroll dominated the boards with 16 rebounds, contributing to NCMC's overall rebounding advantage. However, turnovers and missed free throws proved costly in the close matchup, which ended NCMC's tremendous season.
