Pirates Stay Perfect With KCKCC Hall Of Fame Classic Sweep

NCMC men's basketball continued their hot start to the season with a pair of wins in the KCKCC Hall of Fame Classic over the weekend.  The Pirates defeated Iowa Central CC 99-74 before taking down host and 24th ranked Kansas City Kansas CC 86-68 on Saturday.  NCMC is now 4-0 with their next action coming at home on Wednesday.  That women's basketball/men's basketball doubleheader will be against Southwestern CC and will also be the FCA Canned Food Drive.  Fans can secure free admission by bringing a nonperishable item to be donated locally.

 

Against Iowa Central, the 5th ranked Pirates used double figure scoring from starters Camden Bennett (29 pts), Tyler King (19 pts) and Joe Clark (10 pts) to jump on top early and never look back.  Deng Gak, coming off the bench for NCMC, also netted double digits with 11 points.  The Pirates shot a stellar 60% from the field and knocked in 10 trifectas on the way to victory.

 

In the win over KCKCC, the Pirates held a 38-26 lead at the break and only spaced it further in the second half.  King had 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting to lead the way.  Bennett had an efficient shooting afternoon going 6-11 for 18 points.  Starting point guard Giovanni Mack facilitated the offense brilliantly by dishing out a game high 6 assists plus knocked in 16 points of his own.  Big man Jon Carroll controlled the paint for NCMC, pulling down 8 rebounds and scoring 13 points.
