Pirates Rise To 11th In NJCAA DII Behind Perfect Region 16 Regular Season

In a dominant performance, North Central Missouri College men's basketball secured a resounding victory on the road against St. Louis Community College with a final score of 78-66. The win completed a perfect Region 16 season and concluded the regular season for the Pirates with an overall record of 24-5.  NCMC is now up to 11th in the latest NJCAA DII poll and will look to keep winning as the Region 16 tournament begins on Friday.  The #1 seed Pirates will take on Metropolitan CC in a semifinal matchup at 5:00pm in St. Louis.

 

Tyler King displayed scoring prowess, contributing a team high 26 points in the win. King's 11-of-15 shooting showcased his efficiency and effectiveness in finding scoring opportunities. Additionally, he made key contributions on the defensive end, securing 4 rebounds.

 

Point guard Giovanni Mack led the charge for North Central, delivering an outstanding performance with 23 points. Mack's ability to score from various positions on the court, combined with his adept playmaking, proved to be a significant factor in the team's success. He also contributed on the boards with 5 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.

 

The starters collectively demonstrated strong team play, with Isaiah Reams, Dampier Evans, and Joe Clark each making valuable contributions. Reams netted 7 points and Evans pulled down a team high 7 rebounds.  The starting lineup's balanced effort on both ends of the floor contributed to the team's impressive performance.

 

Mikey Thomas, Jon Carroll, Jakorie Terrill, Jamaal Davis, Khalil Screen, and Roman Phillips, provided crucial support and minutes off the bench, combining for 20 points. Carroll and Terrill, in particular, demonstrated their scoring ability and contributed to the team's success.

 

Defensively, NCMC displayed resilience and control, limiting St. Louis Community College to 66 points on their home court. The team's collective effort, with 18 assists and 30 total rebounds, reflected their cohesion and unselfish play.
