Shooting Woes For Pirates Basketball Lead To First Loss Of The Season

Pirate's basketball dropped a home matchup with Johnson County CC on Saturday 77-59.  Despite a 5-point halftime lead, NCMC could not hold on to keep their record unblemished in the young season.  With the loss, the Pirates hold a 2-1 record ahead of a home matchup on Tuesday against Southwestern CC.  Tipoff is set for 7:30pm.

Leading NCMC in scoring was Mikey Thomas off the bench.  He netted 17 points on 4-9 shooting with 3 made three pointers.  The only other Pirate in double figures was Dampier Evans with 10.  Tyler King, NCMC's leading scorer coming into the game, was held in check and could only muster 9 points on 4-11 shooting.

As a team, NCMC shot 39.6% from the field and 26.9% from behind the arc.  The shooting woes saw the Pirates 34-29 halftime lead disappear quickly in the second half and they could not come back down the stretch.
