NCMC men's basketball had their season come to a close on Friday when they took a 95-86 loss to Metropolitan CC in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 16 tournament. The team finished the year with a 17-11 overall record. Metropolitan went on to claim the region title by defeating St. Louis CC 89-86 in the championship.
The Pirates held a 46-42 point lead at the half but couldn't hold on down the stretch. They were outscored by 13 points in the second half.
A pair of NCMC sophomores earned 1st Team All-Region honors for their outstanding seasons. Gerald Gittens averaged 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists to earn the distinction. Kam Bevel netted 14.5 points per game while pulling down 3.3 rebounds and dishing out 2.4 assists.
