Shooting Woes Sink Pirates At Southeast CC

Pirate's basketball could not overcome a rough shooting night on the road Saturday as they fell to Southeast CC 88-58.  With the loss, the team now sits at 15-7 ahead of Thursday's home showdown with Central Methodist University JV.  That night will be the Cancer Awareness Game where the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Residence Hall Association (RHA) will be selling t-shirts and collecting free will donations in support of Addie Johnson, an avid Pirate supporter who has been in an ongoing battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

As a team, NCMC could only muster 28.1% shooting from the field on Saturday against the Storm who held a sizeable 52-29 lead at halftime.  The Pirates again scored 29 points in the second half and couldn't chip away at the Southeast CC lead.  Kam Bevel's 16 points in the game led the Pirates and he made 4 of 11 from three point land.  Gerald Gittens chipped in 13 points and did the majority of his damage at the foul line, going 7 for 8.
