When NCMC men's basketball and Southwestern CC get together, buzzer beaters are the name of the game in 2022. The Pirates avenged a buzzer beating home loss to the Spartans on Saturday when they knocked in their own game winner on the road to defeat Southwestern 78-76.
The win pushes the Pirates current winning streak to 4 games ahead of a Monday night home matchup with Central Methodist University JV. Tipoff for that game is set for 7:30pm. Admission for the WBB-MBB doubleheader is a toy, which will be donated to local community through a partnership with Wright Memorial Physician's Group and Saint Luke's Mercer County Clinic.
Sterling DeSha had a banner scoring night against the Spartans, netting 22 points on an efficient 8-12 shooting night. Kam Bevel totaled 13 points and Carlton Thomas had a nice game off the bench with 14 points and a team high 7 rebounds. DeMarcus Sanford Jr. made his only field goal attempt of the night, the buzzer beating game winner.
